01. Why Abiton
A trained ear for the final step
Mastering is about making your music shine and keeping its expression. I start by listening to the song and checking the files. If something in the mix should change, I tell you before I begin. Then I shape the master around the music’s expression and the way you plan to release it.
The music decides
Every track gets its own assessment. A quiet acoustic recording needs different treatment from a dense rock song or an electronic production.
You talk to me directly
I do the work myself. Describe how you want the song to feel, send a reference if you like, and tell me if anything needs adjusting once you have listened.
Files you can release
You receive clearly organised master files for the release you are planning. If you need digital delivery or CD, we go through what it should include.
I want the master to give your music a lift – and you to feel confident releasing it.
02. Genres
Different music needs different decisions
The same loudness and processing do not suit every song. I listen for what carries the music and let the genre, the arrangement and the artist’s intent guide the work.
Rock & indie
Energy and clarity, with room for the drums, the guitars and the rawness that belongs to the song.
Pop & electronic
A steady low end, a clear focus and a loudness that suits the production without taking away more dynamics than the music can bear.
Jazz & acoustic
A careful balance that lets the interplay, the room and the nuances of the performance come through.
Classical & orchestral
Transparent work that respects the dynamics, the space and the movement between quiet and loud passages.
03. How it works
From finished mix to finished master
01
Book and send your mix
Tell me what you are releasing and when. After booking you get a payment link, and I tell you how to send your final mix. Reference tracks and wishes are welcome.
02
I listen and master
I check the files and get in touch if something in the mix should be fixed first. Then I master the track for the music and the planned release.
03
You listen
You receive a reference master. If you want to change something, three revisions from the same mix are included.
04
You get the files for your release
When the master is done you receive organised files for digital distribution or for the delivery we have agreed on.
04. Delivery
The right files, clearly organised
You should be able to focus on the release rather than guess which file formats are needed. Tell me how the music will be released, and I prepare the delivery for it.
Streaming and digital distribution
- 24-bit WAV at the mix’s original sample rate.
- 16-bit/44.1 kHz WAV, dithered, accepted by every distributor.
- MP3 (320 kbps) for reference listening.
- A clear file structure and a master document with technical information.
- Loudness chosen for the music and the release, not by a fixed normalisation value.
CD master (add-on)
- Track order and the gaps between tracks.
- Track IDs, CD-Text and PQ information.
- ISRC codes and metadata you supply are added.
- A DDP image to send to the pressing plant.
Add-on: €50 excl. VAT (€62.50 incl. VAT) per disc. You add it in the checkout when you pay for the mastering.
I do not issue ISRC codes. You get them from your distributor or supply them yourself.

06. FAQ
Common questions
What do I need to send?
Your final mix as WAV, AIFF or FLAC, at the project’s sample rate and preferably in 24-bit. Make sure the file does not clip. Leave the limiter on the master bus off, unless it is a deliberate part of the sound. If you are unsure, you can send both versions. A reference track and a few words about what you want to achieve help me understand your goal.
What if there are problems in the mix?
I check levels, clipping, phase and format, among other things. If something should be fixed before mastering, you hear about it before I start.
How loud will the master be?
It depends on the song and how it will be released. There are different benchmarks for loudness in LUFS, but the genre can also decide. If you have a reference or a particular wish, tell me when you book.
What if I want to change something?
Three revisions from the same mix are included. Describe what you want to change in the master, for example a little less bass or a more open sound. If after the revisions we still do not reach a result you want to use, you are refunded under the terms; the delivered master files are then not used.
When do I get the files?
Normally within 5 working days from when both payment and files have arrived. If you have a release date, put it in the booking so we can plan the work.
Do you use AI to master?
No. I listen and make the decisions myself. You can describe what you are after, ask questions and give feedback directly to the person doing the work.
Can you master an EP or an album?
Yes. Every track gets its own treatment, and I also listen to how the songs work together. The price is per track. If you are pressing CDs, the master for CD delivery with a DDP image is an add-on at €50 excl. VAT (€62.50 incl. VAT) per disc, which you add in the checkout when you pay for the mastering. Already have finished masters and only need a DDP image? Write through the contact form and you get a payment link at the same price per disc.
What is stem mastering?
You send groups of instruments separately instead of a finished stereo mix. That lets me adjust, for example, the vocals or the bass on their own in mastering. The service covers up to eight stems per track.
What is the portfolio price?
The same mastering, at a price of its own, for a limited number of selected projects, 15 in all. After the public release the project may be shown in my portfolio as described in the terms. You keep the rights to the music.
